  • Converting

The converting industry is driven by processes such as slitting, sheeting, coating and die-cutting.  Static electricity is a major problem, causing product misbehaviour, dust attraction, shocks to operators or even fires.

Controlled static generation is also used as an efficient method of temporarily bonding two materials in converting processes.  The challenge facing converters, however, often involves finding the balance between the process speed and capability of the electrostatic control equipment.

By focusing on quality and cost-effective static control solutions, Fraser has become the equipment supplier of choice for the world's leading converters and converting machinery manufacturers as well as OEMs.

Industry Applications
Static Solutions for Winders, Unwinders and Slitters in Converting

Static electricity causes severe problems throughout winding and unwinding applications, whether using plastic film, paper or textiles.

Static Control on Winders – Label Printing and Converting

Some processes within label printing and converting can generate large volumes of static, which can in turn result in operator shocks, product rejection and production delays.

Edge Pinning on Winders and Cast Film Lines

Static electricity can be used to 'pin' the film to the last steel cylinder before the winder. This will prevent the web from moving laterally from side-to-side and causing a bad reel.

The same technique is used on cast film lines to prevent the film shrinking ('neck-in') when it touches the chill roller.

Static Generation for Non-Stop Winding

Non-stop winding is frequently used on printing and converting applications where the machine cannot be stopped to swap a rewind reel when it is full.

Static Generation provides temporary adhesion to begin the next reel. It replaces manual and automatic taping machines.
